See’s Candy Review & Giveaway

I was so happy I could have pinched myself. That’s how I felt when I tried my first gluten free chocolate truffle from See’s Candy.

When you go gluten free (and I’m not talking about the silly fad diet – I’m talking the whole shebang) you mourn for the loss of your favorite foods. I said goodbye to my favorite cupcake shop, bid farewell to my beloved vegetarian restaurant (where oddly enough my favorite dish was seitan – it’s literally pure gluten. Lord know how I survived that). And a tear trickled down my cheek as I waved goodbye to my favorite chocolate truffles, resolving to limit myself to select brands that I could purchase at health food stores and my local CVS.

 

And then I took a trip to California. “You probably can’t have this chocolate,” my boyfriend said holding up a box of truffles, “but you should check anyway.”

 

See’s products are all gluten free.

 

The words starred back at me, inviting me into a delicious, nougat-filled world of dancing cherry cordials. All of them? Gluten free???

I dived in. Raspberry truffles, café au lait, strawberry, apricot delight – I could have them all! As I explored their website, I soon found that I could build my own box – online and in their California stores – and handpick each individual chocolate to create the perfect gift for myself.

 

Needless to say, I’m hooked.

 

And yes, all of See’s Candy meet the FDA gluten free requirements. They are also very upfront about their information concerning other allergens which you can find here.

 

On the See’s Candy website you’ll see a large variety of candy bars, lollypops, fudge, toffee, brittle, nuts, assorted chocolates, and truffles (my favorite – if you are dying to impress a gluten free guy or gal, the decadent truffles in the gold boxes are the way to go!).They also offer festive seasonal items (eggnog truffles – what?!). Chocolate for every occasion!
