Gluten Free Gloriously Review & Giveaway

Disclaimer: I received samples of this product, but I was not paid to write this post. All opinions are my own, and I only recommend products that I, myself, use and love.

I literally giggled with delight when I saw that one of my favorite dedicated gluten free bakeries was going to be at the GFAF Expo two months ago. I first experienced the magic of Gluten Free Gloriously at my very first expo, and I’ve been raving about them ever since.

GF holiday 9

Gluten Free Gloriously is now a certified gluten free facility. It is also peanut free (though other nuts are present), oat free, and has dairy free options. The new owner has a nephew with gluten and dairy intolerances and is on a mission to provide the community with safe, high quality gluten free desserts. I must say – he is doing an amazing job. In my opinion, this is one of the best gluten free bakeries in the county.

What they make:

  • Custom cakes (yes, even wedding cakes! They’re stunning!)
  • Coffee crumb cake
  • Muffins (blueberry, chocolate chip, french toast, pumpkin cream cheese)
  • Dinner rolls & hamburger buns
  • Baguette
  • Flatbread
  • English muffins
  • Pizza
  • Pie crust (and dough)
  • NY cheesecake
  • Tiramisu
  • German chocolate cake
  • Apple pie & pie crust
  • So many cupcakes
  • Cannolis (yes, cannolis!)
  • Lemon bars
  • Cookies (pumpkin chocolate chip, sugar shortbread, malomars,  biscotti, butter cookies, spritz cookies, Mexican wedding cookies, lintzer cookies, chocolate chip, 7 layer/rainbow cookies)

GF holiday 11

I got to try this amazing apple pie for Thanksgiving – Have you ever seen a pie this beautiful?? It was heavenly.

GF holiday 10

And these cookies! The thing that impressed me the most (besides the incredible flavor – they were incredible!) is that I have not seen any other gluten free bakery do traditional cookies like this. Quite often gluten free bakeries will have three or four cookie options, most of them having a similar base with different chocolate chips, dried fruit, etc – but not Gluten Free Gloriously! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I opened the tin. My favorites were the spritz cookies (yay sprinkles!), but all were some of the best cookies I have ever tasted.

Gluten Free Gloriously is one of the best – outrageously good. Seriously, go get yourself a cookie. You’re welcome.

Gluten Free Gloriously is located in Stirling, NJ, and they have a dedicated display in Bay Ridge, NJ. They also now ship nation wide! For more info visit

GIVEAWAY! Two lucky winners will receive a cookie tin from Gluten Free Gloriously. Enter via the rafflecopter link below. Continental US residents only. Giveaway ends Wednesday December 27th at 11:59 EST.

Krumville Bake Shop Giveaway

Disclaimer: I was not paid nor giving product samples in exchange for this post. Krumville has provided me with samples in the past. All opinions are my own, and I only recommend products that I, myself, use and love.

Happy start to the holiday season! Tis the season for giving, so I’m very happy to announce that all through December I’ll be posting a TON of gluten free giveaways from some of my favorite bakeries and small businesses! We’re starting with one of my very favorites – Krumville Bake Shop!

Krumville is a 100% gluten free bakery in NYC. You may remember last year’s post featuring their stunning cookies, which are perfect for the holidays.

(In photo: Almond Chocolate Amaretti Cookies, Double Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cinnamon & Spice Cookies. Photo credit: Krumville Bake Shop)

But did you know that Krumville also makes the most delicious cakes? Two months ago Antonella, the founder of Krumville, surprised me with this chocolate cherry cake for my birthday! I am head over heels in love with their cakes. I’ve found that gluten free chocolate cake is particularly difficult to get right, but Antonella is a master baker and makes all of my GF cake dreams come true. Kris and I devoured it. I’m eyeing the Coconut Layer Cake and the Lemon & Berries Cake for my next special occasion.

gf holiday 4

Between the cookies, layered cakes, bundt cakes, muffins and focaccia, Krumville is one of my top picks for gluten free gifts and treats this holiday season (and every other season!).

Krumville ships nationwide (free shipping over $50!). This is an online bakery (no storefront), but if you’re in NYC they will deliver or you can arrange to pick up an order yourself.

Everybody Eats Review & Giveaway

There is a gluten free bakery that is all the rage in NYC, and their bread seems to be everywhere. The next time you visit a gluten free restaurant in NYC and are presented with a fluffy plate of delicious gluten free baguette, ask for the name of the bakery – it might just be bread from Everybody Eats.

Pedro Arroba (diagnosed with Celiac Disease in his twenties) and Bruce Bassman launched Everybody Eats in 2004 in hopes of bringing delicious gluten free baked goods to the Celiac community across the country. Pablo Arroba, Pedro’s son, has since joined the family business. Focusing on taste and texture, Pedro and Bruce worked tirelessly on their technique to create some of the best gluten free breads on the market.

Fast facts:

  • Gluten free facility
  • Nut free facility
  • Dairy free & vegan options
  • Soy free (except for soy lecithin in chocolate items)
  • Made by hand
  • Ships nationwide & available for pickup in Brooklyn
  • Find at restaurants across NYC, Brooklyn & Long Island

Everybody Eats offers:

  • Dairy free ciabatta bread
  • Cinnamon Sticky Buns
  • Dairy free hot dog buns
  • Pumpernickel loaf
  • Vegan/dairy free challah
  • Old fashioned bagels
  • Dairy free deli rolls
  • Dairy free banana bread
  • Dairy free hamburger buns
  • Pizza crust
  • Panini rolls
  • Multi-grain loaf
  • Dairy free white bread
  • Baguette
  • Chocolate chip cookies
  • Sugar cookies
  • Specialty cakes and cupcakes made to order

Having met the Everybody Eats family on multiple occasions, I can personally say that they are some of the most wonderful and delightful people in the world. If you ever have the good fortune to meet Pedro, you’ll note the kindness in his eyes, the passion in his voice, and you’ll get a sense of how much he loves both his work and the Celiac/gluten free community. An example of their kindness – they recently hosted a free Gluten Free Panini Party with the NYC Celiac Disease Meetup Group, and all of the bread sales during the party were donated to the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University. They are a company that cares about people.

As for the bread itself – the moment you taste their baguette, you’ll be a fan of Everybody Eats for life. My mother and I first sampled their bread at Bistango (a favorite restaurant in NYC), and we fell in love with the taste and soft texture. Every time she visits NYC, her goal is to visit Bistango multiple times and eat as much baguette as possible. I’ll happily join every time.

Everybody Eats ships nationwide. If you are in the NYC area, their items are available for pickup at their bakery in Brooklyn (no traditional storefront). For more information and to order visit

GIVEAWAY! Two winners will receive an Everybody Eats Backyard Grill Pack containing 2 bags of hot dog buns and 1 bag of hamburger buns. Enter via the rafflecopter link below. This giveaway is open to residents of NY, NJ, and CT only. Giveaway ends Thursday July 6th, 11:59 EST.

Krumville Bake Shop Cookie Giveaway

Do you love gluten free cookies as much as I do? When you’re a dessert connoisseur, not just any cookie will do – I’ve gotta have the good stuff. Krumville Bake Shop is one of my favorite 100% gluten free bakeries, and they are here to support your cookie addiction this holiday season with the most incredible sweets.

I never want to stop eating these Almond Chocolate Amaretti Cookies. Sweet and chewy, amaretti cookies are my very favorite, and no one makes them better than Krumville. Confession – once I bought a mini bag and mistakenly told my boyfriend that there would be cookies for him when he got home….I saved him half of a cookie and ate the rest. Oops (#sorrynotsorry)

My other Krumville favorite is the Double Chocolate Chip Cookie. Is it a brownie? Is it a cookie? A little of both and loaded with chocolate. Are you getting hungry yet? I wish I had one of these right now….

Also at the bakery are Cinnamon & Spice Cookies (a spin on the traditional Dutch shortbread biscuit – perfect for tea time) and Double Chocolate Chip & Walnut Cookies. They also makes most delicious cakes, muffins, and focaccia – some of the best gluten free baked goods that you will ever eat!

Krumville ships nationwide so you can have any/all of these fresh cookies delivered right to your door! This is an online bakery (no storefront), but if you’re in NYC they will deliver or you could arrange to pick up an order up yourself.

There is still time to order before the holidays! Krumville will be closed 12/24-1/1, so be sure to order your treats now!

GFAF Expo 2016 – Best of Fest!

The Gluten Free & Allergen Friendly Expo was in NJ last weekend, and boy did I have a blast! The best part was the people – meeting new friends, chatting with members of the NYC Celiac Disease Meetup Group, and seeing all of my friends from last year who are cook book authors, bakers, small business owners, and company reps. We are a wonderful, loving community, and I felt it so strongly last weekend my heart could just burst! img_8710

In attendance were several of my favorite companies from previous years that are always in my “Best of the Expo” posts because they are amazing – Izzi B’s Allergen Friendly Bakery (SUPER allergen friendly and delicious), Canyon Bakehouse (the everything bagels!), Maddalenas Cheesecake (best cheesecake ever), Freedom Foods (allergen friendly cereal done right), Beanfields (the most flavorful chips in the world). Today I want to introduce you to some new companies:

Posh Pop Bakeshop – I have been Instagram-stalking this dedicated GF bakery in NJ for years and literally jumped in the air when I heard they would be attending the expo. Go to their Instagram. It’s beautiful. You’ll never want to look away. In person, the treats did not disappoint. Everything was amazing. I went back the second day of the expo to buy a single vanilla cake pop covered in sprinkles, and it is one of the best gluten free desserts that I have ever eaten. I should have bought a hundred. Posh Pop Bakeshop has a loyal following – apparently it’s so good that the general population will happily munch away on their treats without realizing that the bakery is Certified Gluten Free by the CSA (they also test their products in house). Cookies, donuts, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, cakepops, brownies/bars, cheesecakes, muffins, custom cakes – Posh Pop Bakeshop has it all.

Everybody Eats –My mother, boyfriend and I have been a fan of this bread for years. Out of all of the food in NYC that my mom could eat when she visits, she only wants baguette from Everybody Eats. It was wonderful to finally meet the owner, Pedro, who is incredibly lovely and kind. All of their products are gluten free and nut free and made in a 100% dedicated facility. It is a small artisan bakery, and everything is made by hand. Their products can be found in various NYC restaurants. Pickup is available from their Brooklyn kitchen, and they ship nation-wide.

Better Batter/Yes You Can – I am so in love. I was fortunate enough to sample several products from Yes You Can, an Australian family-owned company that is now working in tandem with Better Batter. First of all, the gluten free/dairy free mixes are amazing. They are held up to the high standards that Australia has for gluten free products and are made in a dedicated facility. Vanilla/chocolate/red velvet cake, banana bread, multigrain bread – everything was incredible. I was shocked when I was told that some of the items were baked a few days beforehand. They tasted like they had been made that morning!

I also talked at length with the Better Batter owner, Naomi, who is one of the loveliest people you could meet. Better Batter is a small, family owned, mom-run company that stemmed from the desire to support her family of Celiacs, one member of which is autistic and found incredible relief from the gluten free diet. Naomi explained how Better Batter is a social enterprise, and that they actively support and seek to hire people with autism. My heart is bursting with how caring Naomi and Better Batter are.

img_8482The Squirrel and The Bee/Goodness Grainless (un)granola – OMG pumpkin spice, grain free granola! Ingredients are: Walnuts, Almonds, Hazelnuts, Pecans, Coconut Oil, Honey, Vanilla Extract, Sea Salt, and Shredded Coconut. I’m normally not a granola fan, but with those ingredients and an incredible taste I have now converted. Someone please give me ideas for how to use granola because otherwise I’m eating this straight out of the bag. The Squirrel and The Bee is a dedicated gluten free bakery in Short Hills, NJ and owned by a professional pastry chef who found relief for her Ulcerative Colitis by changing her diet.

Mickaela’s Simply Diving Biscotti Cookies – Made in a dedicated gluten free facility and Certified GF. Unlike traditional biscotti, these look like normal circular cookies. They are super flavorful, light and extra crunchy. I’m in love with both the chocolate chip and lemon flavors. Also, this business just opened seven months ago! Support  small businesses!

Manini’s – Possibly the best ravioli I’ve ever had. No weird gummy taste from the gluten free pasta. Simply outstanding ravioli, whether you normally eat gluten or avoid it. I tried their four cheese ravioli and the spinach/cheese. I simply cannot wait to buy more. It will surely become a staple in my kitchen. Manini’s facility is dedicated gluten/peanut/tree nut/soy/fish/shellfish free and their products are consistently tested for gluten to less than 10ppm. They are also Certified Gluten Free by GIG.

BFree – Certified Gluten Free and also free of egg/dairy/nut/soy (vegan friendly!). I am in love with the multigrain rolls. They have a hearty taste and an excellent fluffy/springy texture. Their wraps were also a huge hit at the expo. I heard many comments like, “They’re incredible – they don’t fall apart or crack!”

Kevita – I’m really into Kombucha right now. Some Kombucha has an overwhelming vinegar-like taste. Kevita is a drink that you’ll happily reach for. I tried the Pineapple Peach and was delighted. They also have delicious sparkling probiotic drinks – the Lime Mint Coconut flavor was quite refreshing.

RP Pasta – We all know that there are less-than-desirable gluten free pasta brands in the world. RP Pasta is Certified Gluten Free, has a lovely taste, and it does not stick and clump together. The first ingredient is brown rice flour, which I appreciate for the nutritional content. They have a few varieties including linguini, fusilli, fettuccine, spinach fettuccine, and lasagna sheets. I’m excited to see what this company does next!

Can’t wait for next year!

Disclaimer: I received samples of these products at the expo, but I was not paid to write this. All opinions are my own, and I only recommend products that I, myself, use and love.

1-2-3 Gluten Free Mixes Review & Giveaway

1-2-3 Gluten Free is a company that truly goes the distance and I LOVE IT. They make some of the most fabulous gluten free baking mixes on the market, and you simply must go out and try their products now.

Great facts about 1-2-3 Gluten Free:

  • Produced in the USA
  • Many products are fortified with extra vitamins
  • No artificial flavors or colors
  • Established by a woman who was diagnosed with Celiac Disease over 15 years ago. Her nieces and a nephew were also diagnosed, and she was determined to create amazing gluten free versions of favorite foods to share with her family.
  • Donates to Celiac Disease, Autism and food allergy research (LOVE!!!)

You’ll find mixes for:

  • Biscuits

  • Brownies
  • Muffins/Quick breads
  • Chocolate Bundt Pound Cake (sugar free variation available)

On their website there is a list of dozens upon dozens of different recipes that can be made with their mixes. Everything from carrot cake to pie crust to wrapped gouda appetizers. You’d have to buy all of their products ten times in order to take advantage of their versatility. I would seriously never get tired of 1-2-3 Gluten Free.

I recently had the opportunity to sample several products, and I was super impressed. I used the recipe for Pumpkin Bars using their Pan Bar mix, and it resulted in one of the best fluffy cake textures that I have ever found from a gluten free mix – so light and fluffy! The perfect crumb. It freezes super well and maintains its’ perfection once it is defrosted.

I also made Pumpkin Pancakes using their Allie’s Awesome Buckwheat Pancake Mix (I’m on a pumpkin kick, anticipating the start of fall and the approaching cool weather). Though I may add a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg to my next batch, I loved everything about the pancakes, particular the texture and how well they formed. They came out perfect every time – look at how beautiful these pancakes are! Perfect with a bit of grass fed butter or maple syrup. As a bonus, this mix is also fortified with B vitamins, iron and calcium, which is important because many of us who are diagnosed with Celiac Disease often have nutrient deficiencies.

All in all, I cannot recommend 1-2-3 Gluten Free more highly. I urge you to support this fabulous company and start your fall baking season off right!
