Holiday Giveaway #1 – Bread SRSLY

Disclaimer: I am an affiliate of Bread SRSLY, and this post contains an affiliate link. This means I get a small commission that helps me maintain the cost of this site (there is no added cost to you). I’ve received samples of this product, but I was not paid to write this post. All opinions are my own, and I only recommend products that I use and love.

It’s time for Tasty Meditation’s Favorite Things! I’m celebrating the holiday season by featuring a few of my very favorite products in the gluten free world and hosting giveaways! Tis the season for giving, after all. First up – Bread SRSLY!

This is one of my very favorite things to receive in the mail, and it brings me so much joy – 100% gluten free sourdough. Bread SRSLY is made in San Francisco, so you know it’s the real deal. My husband (originally from the Bay Area) adores this bread and is always upset when I eat the last few slices without him. Not only is this my favorite gluten free sourdough bread, it’s also my favorite gluten free bread on the market. The texture and taste are just incredible! Bread SRSLY’s mission is “to reunite eaters with sourdough when they thought good bread was off the table”. Thank you, Bread SRSLY, for bringing this amazing bread to my table (though it is never on the table long – we eat it too fast!).

Quick facts:

  • Made in a 100% gluten free facility
  • Certified gluten free
  • Made in a dedicated top 8 allergen-free facility
  • Dairy free
  • Soy free
  • Egg free
  • Potato free
  • Sugar free
  • Tree nut free
  • Peanut free
  • Tapioca free
  • Chickpea free
  • Sesame free
  • Some products are rice-free and gum-free
  • Certified vegan
  • Certified kosher
  • They ship nationwide!

My favorite variation is the classic loaf, but I also appreciate the extra bit of sweetness the onion loaf provides. All of the loaves are incredibly soft, and very lightly toasting individual slices helps to bring out the perfect sourdough flavor. Add a bit of grass-fed butter (YUM!), and you’ve got the perfect bite. Seriously, you might just think you’re in heaven.

Gluten Free Territory Giveaway

Disclaimer: I received samples of this product, but I was not paid to write this post. All opinions are my own, and I only recommend products that I, myself, use and love.

I have died and gone to gluten free brownie heaven. And I’m welcoming you to come with me, because next we’re featuring one of my most popular previous giveaways – Gluten Free Territory!

GF holiday 1

Gluten Free Territory is a dedicated gluten free and nut free bakery (note: some products do contain coconut) run by an awesome family team. Their products are tested by the Celiac Spruce Association through University of Nebraska to less than 5ppm. Cue my happy dance!

By the way, you saw that brownie picture, right? Have you ever seen a more beautiful brownie? That’s the raspberry cheesecake brownie, and it is the perfect balance and combination of flavors. I hope you have an extra pair of socks handy when you try it – because it’s gonna knock your socks off.

gf holiday 13

The sweets:

  • Brownies (vegan option available)
  • Raspberry cheesecake brownie
  • Pumpkin cheesecake brownie (seasonal)
  • Mint brownie (vegan option available)
  • Pound cake
  • Lemon pound cake
  • Chocolate chip cookie
  • Coconut macaroon sandwich cookie
  • Orange craisin white chocolate cookie

(Note: I am only featuring their oat free cookies. While the oats GF Territory uses are gluten free, they are not purity protocol oats. Currently, I am only eating/recommending purity protocol GF oats)

All of their desserts are amazing, but I can’t stop thinking about that raspberry cheesecake brownie…..Try it. Best gluten free brownies you’ll ever taste, and you’ll be proud to support a small, family run business.

Gluten Free Territory is based in New Hampshire, and they ship and do local deliveries! Their products are also available at select shops in NH and neighboring states. For more info visit www.glutenfreeterritory.com

Gluten Free Prairie Giveaway

Disclaimer: I received samples of this product, but I was not paid to write this post. All opinions are my own, and I only recommend products that I, myself, use and love.

People are finally starting to talk more about purity protocol gluten free oats, and I’m so excited!

“Jessica, what is the purity protocol?” – Oats that are grown in a dedicated gluten free field, then harvested/packaged in a gluten free facility.

“Are all gluten free oats purity protocol?” – Nope, most GF oats are regular oats that are mechanically/optically sorted to remove the gluten-containing grains (that’s what Cheerios does).

“But certified gluten free oats are purity protocol oats, right?” – NOPE! At least not necessarily. Certified is not synonymous with purity protocol. Many certified GF products use GF oats that are mechanically/optically sorted.

“How can I find out which oats are purity protocol and which aren’t?” Gluten Free Watchdog has a great page about it.

“Okay, what’s your favorite purity protocol oat supplier?” – Gluten Free Prairie, of course!

Gluten Free Prairie is run by Deb Wheaton. Among her notable accomplishments, she is on the Celiac Disease Foundation Board of Directors and was awarded the CDF’s highest honor, the Blue Butterfly Award, for her years of service. A portion of the proceeds from Gluten Free Prairie go to the Celiac Disease Foundation for their programs to raise awareness.

gf holiday 18

Important facts about the Gluten Free Prairie:

  • Supports the purity protocol – oats are grown in glutenfree fields then harvested/packaged in a designated glutenfree facility
  • Certified gluten free by the Celiac Spruce Association
  • Tests to less than 5ppm
  • Non GMO and Certified Kosher
  • High in fiber
  • Higher in protein than most traditional oats (17-22% compared to 13%)

Products include:

  • Oat Groats
  • Oat Flour
  • Oatmeal
  • Montana Mornings Granola
  • Deep Dark Chocolate Brownie Mix
  • Pancake & Waffle Mix
  • Hunger Buster Cookies

gf holiday 19

I love, love, love Gluten Free Prairie. The taste, quality, safety, the awesome owner – Gluten Free Prairie is the way to go if you’re an oat lover. The brownie mix is amazing! I especially love using the all purpose flour and pancake/waffle mix to make crepes. I recently attempted to make pancakes using the suggested recipe on the back of the pancake/waffle mix. My current nonstick pan is slightly warped (aka it’s no longer perfectly flat), so the pancake batter spread out a bit too much (yay more crepes!). Easy fix if you’ve got a similar uneven pan – decrease the amount of milk and add 1/4 tsp xanthan gum. Perfect pancakes! Also, as an oatmeal lover in my pre-celiac days, I am so happy to now have a gluten free oatmeal that I can finally trust.

Find GlutenFree Prairie products in stores nationwide and on amazon.com For more information visit www.glutenfreeprairie.com

GIVEAWAY! Two winners will receive a Deep Dark Chocolate Brownie Mix, Pancake & Waffle Mix, Hunger Buster Cookie, a Montana Mornings Granola, Oatmeal, and Simply Wholesome All Purpose Flour Blend – that’s almost all of their products! Namaste Review & Giveaway

Disclaimer: I received samples of this product, but I was not paid to write this post. All opinions are my own, and I only recommend products that I, myself, use and love.

What happens when it’s 1999, and a friend desperately asks for you help to find a gluten free/allergen free food for herself and her young son? Why, you make your own gluten free mixes! At least that’s what Daphne Taylor did, and Namaste Foods was born.

gf holiday 20

Things I love about Namaste Foods:

  • Made in a dedicated allergen free facility
  • Certified gluten free
  • Soy free
  • Potato free
  • Dairy free
  • Casein free
  • Peanuts/tree nuts free
  • Kosher certified
  • Most are approved through the Whole Grain Council and Non-GMO Project
  • USDA Organic options
  • Woman owned!
  • Staff is made up almost entirely of mothers working from home all across the country

So much to love! The products are almost too many to name. They include:

  • Devil’s food cake mix
  • Dark chocolate brownie mix
  • Quick bread & muffin mix
  • All purpose baking mix
  • Various individual flours for those who love to bake from scratch (such as organic quinoa flour, sorghum flour, millet flour)
  • Muffin & scone mix
  • Blondie mix
  • Pizza crust mix
  • Spice cake mix
  • Vanilla cake mix
  • Cookie mix
  • Pasta/macaroni & cheese
  • Seasoned coating mixes
  • Vegan instant soups
  • And so much more!

gf holiday 16

Namaste graciously sent me a few mixes to try. The Spice Cake and Pizza mixes were calling to me. First, I made carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. The spice cake was bursting with flavorful spices. I imagine it would make an excellent pumpkin cake, as well. Incredibly easy – combine the recommended ingredients along with a handful of chopped carrots and raisins. Lesser quality mixes come out rather gummy, but not Namaste – fabulous texture. The pizza crust was also easy to make and came out wonderfully chewy. Kris (a gluten eater) gave his approval.

Mixes are easy and convenient, but I also really enjoy baking from scratch. I recently made pizza dough (yes, more pizza) and used a variety of gluten free flours including Namaste’s quinoa flour, which is super high in nutrients. So far I’m loving their high quality mixes and flours, and I will certainly be back for more.

Bread SRSLY Gluten Free Sourdough Giveaway

Disclaimer: I am an affiliate of Bread SRSLY, and this post contains an affiliate link. This means I get a small commission that helps maintain the cost of this site (there is no added cost to you). I’ve received samples of this product, but I was not paid to write this post. All opinions are my own, and I only recommend products that I, myself, use and love.

If you’re looking for a gift to really impress your gluten free loved one, look no further than Bread SRSLY! It’s my favorite bread on the market (I’m literally eating a slice as I type), and Kris, a Bay Area-native, agrees that the tangy sourdough taste is top notch.

GF holiday 6

Whenever newly diagnosed celiacs express struggles with finding good gluten free bread I immediately recommend Bread SRSLY. They are the masters of shipping across the country. The bread arrives fresh and can be refrigerated for several days. The really special thing – I’ve found that I don’t need to toast the bread for the first few days! It’s incredibly soft. A few days in I’ll start lightly toasting until it’s soft and warm. There’s no need to toast to the point of crunchy (unless you want to, of course). If you are gluten free, you understand how unique soft bread is. Left over bread can be sliced, then frozen for future toasting.

There are currently rumors circulating through the gluten free community about sourdough. To clarify – regular wheat-based sourdough is NOT safe for people with celiac disease. Click here to see test results from a wheat-based sourdough – it contained 104,000 ppm gluten! Yikes! That is not the case with Bread SRSLY, which is made with gluten free ingredients in a dedicated facility in San Francisco.

GF holiday 7

Extra facts:

  • 100% gluten free facility
  • Certified GF through the CSA (CSA certifications are only given to products that test below 5ppm)
  • Nut free facility
  • Allergen-friendly
  • Vegan
  • Made by hand
  • Non GMO
  • Gum-free options (the sandwich rolls contain psyllium husk instead of xanthan gum)

Click here to order your Bread SRSLY! (affiliate link) and get FREE SHIPPING using code “tastymeditation”!

The last day to order your Bread SRSLY for the holidays is December 17th! All orders after that will ship the week of January 8th, so get on it!

Izzi B’s Allergen-Free Bakery Gingerbread House Kit Giveaway!

Disclaimer: I was not paid to write this post. Izzi B’s Bakery provided me with a sample gingerbread house kit. All opinions are my own, and I only recommend products that I, myself, use and love.

I’m bringing back another favorite for my second gluten free holiday giveaway – the Izzi B’s Allergen-Free Bakery Gingerbread House Kit!

About Izzi B’s:

  • Allergen-free facility!
  • Gluten free
  • Soy free
  • Dairy free

  • Peanut/tree nut free
  • Casein free
  • No preservatives
  • No trans fats
  • No refined sugar
  • No artificial colors or flavors

My favorite holiday tradition as a child was making a gingerbread house with my sister – it was a three day project, and the entire kitchen was covered in sugar. We haven’t spent Christmas together since I moved away from home, and I haven’t tackled a gluten free gingerbread house from scratch yet. I knew that I would enjoy Izzi B’s gingerbread house kit, but I didn’t realize just how much I would love it! Here’s the package that arrived at my home:

gf holiday 23

Everything in the box was perfect – included were sturdy pieces of gingerbread for the house, a few gingerbread people (and a reindeer!), a piping bag of powdered sugar (just add water), and candy/chocolate to decorate with. Click here to read the specific allergen information of the gingerbread house and the candy that is included (the allergen friendly candy comes from various different facilities). The directions were super easy to follow. Kris and I made this!

gf holiday 21

Making this gingerbread house was so much fun! I didn’t realize how much I missed this tradition. My heart swelled we pieced it together and made this tiny home. I love, love, love this kit, and I’m so glad that Izzi B’s Bakery is here to help other children (and adults!) share that joy.

Izzi B’s Allergen-Free Bakery is located in Norwalk, CT. There is no storefront, but they have pick-up options and ship all across the country! Visit www.ibcakes.com.

Krumville Bake Shop Giveaway

Disclaimer: I was not paid nor giving product samples in exchange for this post. Krumville has provided me with samples in the past. All opinions are my own, and I only recommend products that I, myself, use and love.

Happy start to the holiday season! Tis the season for giving, so I’m very happy to announce that all through December I’ll be posting a TON of gluten free giveaways from some of my favorite bakeries and small businesses! We’re starting with one of my very favorites – Krumville Bake Shop!

Krumville is a 100% gluten free bakery in NYC. You may remember last year’s post featuring their stunning cookies, which are perfect for the holidays.

(In photo: Almond Chocolate Amaretti Cookies, Double Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cinnamon & Spice Cookies. Photo credit: Krumville Bake Shop)

But did you know that Krumville also makes the most delicious cakes? Two months ago Antonella, the founder of Krumville, surprised me with this chocolate cherry cake for my birthday! I am head over heels in love with their cakes. I’ve found that gluten free chocolate cake is particularly difficult to get right, but Antonella is a master baker and makes all of my GF cake dreams come true. Kris and I devoured it. I’m eyeing the Coconut Layer Cake and the Lemon & Berries Cake for my next special occasion.

gf holiday 4

Between the cookies, layered cakes, bundt cakes, muffins and focaccia, Krumville is one of my top picks for gluten free gifts and treats this holiday season (and every other season!).

Krumville ships nationwide (free shipping over $50!). This is an online bakery (no storefront), but if you’re in NYC they will deliver or you can arrange to pick up an order yourself.

GIVEAWAY! One lucky winner will receive a gluten free Gingerbread Cake from Krumville Bake Shop! Enter via the rafflecopter link below. Continental US residents only. Giveaway ends Monday December 11th at 11:59PM EST. Cake will be delivered by December 22nd.

All opinions are my own, and I only recommend products that I, myself, use and love. As always, double check labels and product information. Ingredients, allergen policies, and facilities can change at any time.

  • Nuts.com gift certificate –Gluten free flours, nuts, and baking ingredients can get expensive, so I’m sure that any home cook would love the gift of a full pantry.
  • Guittard Chocolate Chips – My absolute favorite chocolate to bake with. Most of their products are made in a dedicated facility and will say so on the label.
  • Bed, Bath and Beyond gift card Not sure what gadget your GF friend is missing? Let them pick! I asked my followers on Facebook what was on their wish list, and cooking gadgets (bread makers, in particular) were at the top of many lists.
  • Digital Kitchen Scale – Digital scales are essential for measuring gluten free flour and making sure gluten free recipes come out the best they can be! So far my favorite scale is by Escali who provided a sample in exchange for this review.
  • Blendtec blender with twister jar – One of the most useful gadgets in my kitchen. The twister jar is perfect for making nut butters and small servings of anything.
  • “1000 Gluten Free Recipes” by Carol Fenster – My first cookbook when I went gluten free, and boy was I glad I had it! Five years later it still has a prominent space on my bookshelf.
  • Natural Contents Cookbook Good Food For Everyone: Farm Fresh Clean Eating  – Gluten free, grain free, soy free, mostly paleo, dairy-free friendly and vegan friendly recipes.

  • Gluten Free Labels – (affiliate link) Fun labels, stickers, tags, and toothpick flags that will easily help distinguish the gluten-free products from the gluten-filled products in a shared kitchen.
  • A dinner at their favorite GF restaurant – Because every great cook deserves a relaxing culinary experience every so often. Great option if you know your sweetie has a favorite. Unless you’re taking them to a new 100% GF restaurant, don’t surprise them with a new place they haven’t had a chance to research.

For those who like easy baking projects:

  • Luce’s Gluten Free Artisan Bread Mix – Delicious, rustic bread mix. Just add water, mix, and bake. I recommend the sourdough and “rye” mixes (not real rye, of course), which are oat free (the other mixes contain non-purity protocol GF oats, an ingredient that I do not personally eat/recommend)
  • 123 Gluten Free Mixes – A high quality set of mixes that are extremely allergen friendly. Great for loved ones with multiple food intolerances. Over a hundred recipes on their website – you will never get tired of their mixes. The Sweet Goodness Pan Bars are a personal favorite.
  • Better Batter Mixes – Better Batter has a beautiful mission. Very allergen friendly, and there are literally hundreds of recipes on the Better Batter website.
  • Really Great Food Company Mixes – A big hit at the recent GFAF Expo. Their coffee cake and banana bread were huge hits and personal favorites.

  • Wine – When in doubt, always a good gift.

GF  Resources:

  • Gluten Free Watchdog Subscription – GFW is one of the most incredible advocates the community has. Her website is a wealth of information. Subscribers get special access to products reports (selected items are tested for gluten in a lab) and support her overall efforts.
  • Celiac Research Donation – Donate in honor of your Celiac loved one! The Celiac Center at Columbia University is one of several organizations doing amazing research for the community, searching for better treatment and a cure.

Don’t forget that your loved one is not defined by Celiac. We all have other interests and hobbies – theatre, movies, music, pets, crafts, games, sports – gifts that are not food-related are also great choices.

Please feel free to email this list to loved ones and leave a comment – what gift are YOU wishing for?

Happy Holidays!

Best of Fest – GFAF Expo, NJ 2017

Disclaimer: I was one of the official bloggers for the NJ GFAF Expo. My entry ticket was comped, and I (like many other attendees) received product samples. I was not paid to write this. All opinions are my own, and I only recommend products that I use and love.

The New Jersey GFAF Expo is over, and I am still wiped out! But I’ve got my Best of Fest list ready for you, so here we go!

Everybody Eats

A dedicated gluten free and nut free bakery in Brooklyn, NY (dairy free and vegan options available). It is one of my favorite bakeries, and their baguettes are all the rage in GF restaurants across NYC. Always a huge hit at the expo, I often hear other attendees similarly raving about the bread. I adore the team that runs Everybody Eats (Pablo, Pedro, and Bruce) – they truly care about the Celiac/gluten free community and are some of the loveliest people you’ll ever have the good fortune to meet. No traditional storefront, but they ship and have pick-up options.

gfaf 2

Izzi B’s Allergen Free Bakery

Another big expo hit year after year, Izzi B’s is a dedicated gluten free bakery in CT that is also free of the top 8 allergens. The owner, Pam, is the absolute sweetest, and this year I met her daughter – the real Izzi B for whom the bakery was inspired by/named for. It turns out that Isabella and I share a favorite cupcake flavor (the golden yellow cupcakes pictured below). They are to die for! Izzi B has no traditional storefront, but there are shipping and pick-up options.

gfaf 1

Canyon Bakehouse

The best certified gluten free bagels in town! Pictured here are their plain and everything bagels. However, my favorite flavors are their new blueberry and cinnamon raisin. The texture is slightly different – chewier and much closer to traditional New York bagels. Stop and Shop recently started carrying this product, so check it out!

gfaf 3

Eclair Naturals

My favorite gluten free body care products! Also soy free, non-GMO, vegan, and cruelty free. Beautiful scents. The lotions and body butters are my favorite products and have been lifesavers during cold winter months. I frequently stock up when there are sales on Target.com and in Rite Aid stores.

gfaf 4

Gluten Free Gloriously

Amazing dedicated/certified gluten free bakery in NJ. I adore their desserts (they do wedding cakes FYI!), and I kept running into other GF folk at the expo who were similarly raving. Gluten Free Gloriously recently began shipping nationwide. Their dedicated bakery is in Stirling, NJ, and they also have a dedicated display in Bay Ridge, NJ.

gfaf 7

Against the Grain Pizza

Kris and I have been fans of Against The Grain’s baguette for many years, and I was thrilled to try their pizza. The pesto pizza is possibly my favorite pizza on the market. Made in a dedicated gluten free facility.

gfaf 8

Tali Restaurant

NYC’s newest 100% gluten free restaurant! Tali is located on 26th St/Lexington Avenue. Nicely priced Italian food with a gluten free bar and bakery. The NYC Celiac Disease Meetup Group recently had a dinner event there, and everyone gave glowing reviews.

gfaf 10

The Really Great Food Company

I was recently introduced to these baking mixes in one of my American Gluten Free Boxes. I was thrilled to be able to sample more of their products including their heavenly banana bread and coffee crumb cake mixes (now I can’t stop thinking about that coffee cake – so good!!!).
